“ The ambiance of this restaurant is really on point. It feels very fancy and great place for a good dinner. My two favorite dishes of the night was the Peking duck (must try) and the fried rice. I feel like they should hire more servers as it was hard trying to get them to notice us for when we tried to order. ”
“ We had a very nice meal at this place. We ordered the 1/2 Peking duck which was very good with pancakes and hoisin sauce. The butter cheese shrimp was also very good and tasty but you have to peel them and it's a little messy and difficult. We substituted chicken for beef lo mein. It was also tasty. Our signature dish was the fried sea bass in chilis. It was very good and tasty. The drinks were also good but the service was below average: we came at 3pm they were not busy so they should have payed more attention to us. Otherwise the ambiance was good , food good and service ok. ”
“ Great experience at JiangNan. This is a restaurant originating from New York and I am impressed that they are able to bring high quality food to the Philadelphia area as well. First impressions are that this is not your typical Chinese takeout spot. The restaurant is dimly lit with a dark modern interior. The restaurant is not loud and crowded like many other Chinese restaurants. I experienced great service as many of their waiters were professional and friendly. They were able to recommend me a couple of dishes based on my preferences. We decided to go for a couple of dishes we never seen anywhere else before. We started with the Braised Pork Belly in Black Tea Sauce. The sauce was similar viscosity as a gravy and coated the plump pork belly well. The pork belly itself was soft and melty. Next, we got the Corn with Salty Egg Yolk. It came from their special seasonal menu and I have to say, it was quite a unique dish. The corn was battered, deep fried, and coated in salty egg yolk. The corn itself is sweet and the batter was not clumpy. The individual corn kernels were separate from one another. The batter remained light and crunchy until the last bite. Great execution! The Tomato & Beef Fried Rice uses the traditional comfort food dish Tomato & Beef and combined it with fried rice. The dish was a great rendition to one of my all time classic favorite Chinese dishes. The beef that was used was high quality, with great inter-muscular fat and minimal use of baking soda. I am glad I ordered this. Overall, my experience at JiangNan was enjoyable and I definitely would come back to try their other dishes. Their menu is quite expansive and many of their dishes I have never seen anywhere else before! ”
“ Visited JiangNan a few weeks ago while exploring Chinatown. My first impression was how beautiful and classy the interior was, with the service being quick and helpful. We arrived about an hour before closing and were given plenty of notice for last call on food items, so we put our full order in all together. The food came out quickly, hot, and at a great staggered pace, since we did order several items. We ordered (not pictured) the truffle soup dumplings, as well as the spicy pork soup dumplings. I love wontons with chili oil, and these were phenomenal! Great spice level (for someone who enjoys spicier food) and meat & dumpling were cooked to perfection. The duck was outstanding. As someone who has little to no experience with eating Peking duck, this blew me away. The perfectly crispy skin and soft, fall apart meat was everything I could've asked for. Would definitely like to come back to JiangNan and would highly recommend the duck and wontons in chili oil! ”
“ Let's talk jazz, sex appeal and amazing food. This gem in the heart of ChinaTown is one you don't want to miss! You may miss it walking by quickly, I almost did. Such a beautiful experience of love and peace in the afternoon! The dim lighting, Black walls, and table settings right away will pull you in. I made sure to get some beautiful photos as I felt it set the mood for my afternoon dining experience. I think this would be a phenomenal date night spot or a chill catch up with friends. It was a cute casual afternoon for myself and others around. The Blueberry General Tso's Chicken has a fair balance of slight tang and sweet. I was such a fan of that dish and it's quite filling. The Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts is also a favorite, paired with the Pinot Noir! The menu feels endless with many options to try and sort out from the appetizers to the main entrees. I tried both soup dumplings, the mushrooms were my favorite. The service when you walk in is outstanding! From the table service, guide to the restroom and the management presence at the bar. I asked the staff what the playlist is that they play, it's "Jazz Restaurant: Music for Grownups and Other People." I truly recommend adding to your Spotify library. ”
“ What stands out here is the ambiance and dishware. Very intentional lighting and presentation. Their complimentary appetizer dish (chili oil, pickled veggies) goes hard and is spicy. Most dishes were good, only amazing dish was the dumpling pictured second (forgot the name). They forgot our rice but overall they were fun, humored our nonsense, and couldn't ask for a better server. ”
“ Quack-tastic Feast at JiangNan: Ducking Delicious! This is my new favorite somewhat upscale restaurant in Chinatown. JiangNan strikes a great balance of elegance and authenticity. My family and I came here to celebrate Father's Day since this place is slightly nicer and we are familiar with the chain from NYC. The décor was thoughtfully designed, giving an Asian flair to our dining experience. Since we had a large party, it felt like we ordered one of everything on the menu, and it did not disappoint. The crown jewel of the meal was the Peking duck. It was juicy and crispy at the same time, and there was enough to go around. The service was great, and the food came out relatively quickly. The price was also reasonable. I would highly recommend JiangNan for both special occasions and casual dining. ”
“ I was not able to confirm a reservation online but showed up around 8:20pm and was seated immediately. The decor is dark and elegant ( perfect for a date night). Ordered the potpourri rice wine ( cool presentation). I preferred the taste of the saki tini. The salt pepper jumbo shrimp are usually served with the shell but I requested for the shell to be removed.( they obliged with no issues). The kung pao chicken had some kick to it! Great food! Great drinks! Great time! ”
“ This is a perfect spot to go on a date. Ambiance is dark, sleek and elegant. Very fancy looking space but the prices are not. AND the food is delicious. As soon as we arrived, we were seated - lots of people on a Sunday evening. They asked us if we wanted hot tea or iced water and we opted for hot tea. Soon the server brought us a nice looking teapot of what smelled like the most aromatic Jasmine tea ever. In addition to that, they also brought us a complimentary bowl of cabbage with chili oil. I have never been a fan of Cabbage - or was until yesterday. The combo with chili oil is a game changer! It was so good, we asked for seconds. We ordered the Ox tongue in chili oil and Boneless chicken with dried peppers. Going by the portion sizes - I feel like 2-3 dishes should be enough for 2 people. We only got 1 appetizer and 1 main and were sufficiently full. The Ox tongue was drenched in chili oil - it was slightly spicy and very flavorful. Loved it! Boneless chicken with dried peppers wasn't too spicy but had perfectly balanced Sichuan flavors. For drinks, we got the Rice wine which is an immersive drink and very pleasing to the eye. It is a beautiful pastel pink in color topped with rose petals. Our server asked if it was our first time having the rice wine and if we wanted to record the experience while he poured the drink. It was visually so stunning because of the dry ice that almost everyone in the restaurant was looking at our table. Shortly after, we saw a few people ordering the same drink. The service was prompt and we did not have to wait too long for anything. We were very impressed by the overall experience and can't wait to try other things on the menu! ”
“ Surprisingly delicious! A very fancy vibe that doesn't seem to match the street, but it works and I guess this is their aesthetic. They have a very cool reusable chopstick with disposable tips. The whole place was packed, and could definitely be better ventilated (the lamb dish on fire has a lot of smoke). Initially seemed pricey, but actually ended up being a great deal for what we got. Appetizers are half price for the first dish. Sticky rice in lotus is not flavored, but the sauce is good and it is overall flavorful. Good savory spice with the chili oil on wontons. Somewhat interestingly, soup dumplings do not come with a spoon so you need to slurp quickly. Flavor is good (nothing special). The real standout is the duck! They give FAR more than restaurants usually do and it also comes with a lot of wraps. Meatballs were too salty. ”
